Abstract: Cryptomathic has worked with cryptography for nearly 20 years. This talk will describe some of the challenges we meet when using cryptographic techniques to provide secure solutions. As an example a secure banking system providing services over Internet will be used to illustrate security problems and solutions related to the end user platform, methods for securing the actual transactions as well as principles for secure key management at the bank. Some shortcomings of an otherwise presumably secure protocol such as SSL will be illustrated. The talk will also discuss some of the security problems we expect to see/work with in the coming years.
